NORWICH - The Mid-York Concert Band is pleased to announce the 2026 Jones-Sterchak Memorial Scholarship Winner, Sophia Dixon, from Oneida High School.

Sophia will be performing an excerpt from her scholarship audition at the May 17th  Mid-York Concert Band’s Spring Concert.

Sophia is a versatile musician. She has participated in Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Pep Band, NYSSMA, Area-All State, All County and the Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony. Sophia aspires to become a high school music teacher and create an environment that encourages students and allows them to thrive, as music has done for her.

The Mid-York Concert Band is celebrating its 42nd year and is comprised of people from all walks of life who enjoy playing concert band music. The MYCB rehearses in the fall, winter and spring and holds two annual performances that are free to the public.

The next performance is Sunday, May 17  at 2 p.m. in the Norwich High School Auditorium.
