Oxford softball snaps losing streak with close win over Harpursville
HARPURSVILLE— The Oxford Blackhawks softball team traveled to take on Harpursville in the second round of the MAC playoffs. Oxford snapped a long losing streak with a close 4-3 victory.
Oxford took an early 2-0 lead in the first two innings before the Hornets tied it in the bottom of the fifth.
Both teams scored in the seventh with Oxford scoring two and held Harpursville to only one run in the bottom half of the inning.
Oxford scored four runs on 11 hits with Elizabeth Vincent leading the team by going four-for-four with an RBI and stealing four bases. Paizleigh Timke went two-for-three with two doubles and two RBIs as Reagan Long had one RBI.
Lily Marshman also had two hits in the win and pitched the complete game, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits, one walk, and struck out 15 batters.
