UV PONY drops to Oneonta 13-6
ONEONTA— The Unadilla Valley Storm PONY league team traveled to take on the Junior Oneonta Outlaws on Thursday night. UV attempted a comeback but fell short 13-6.
Oneonta took a 2-0 lead at the top of the first before UV tied it at two in the third inning on two outs.
Kasen Cox singled to center, stole second and scored on Reed Osborne’s RBI single. Osborne stole second and scored on Urijah Drake’s RBI single to right field.
The Outlaws regained the lead in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-2.
UV added one back on a wild pitch in the fourth before Oneonta had a big inning with eight runs, which sealed the victory.
The Storm answered back with three runs in the top of the fifth as Kasen Cox hit a solo home run to lead off the inning, Reed Osborne singled to follow and stole second. He came in to score on Brantley Conklin’s RBI single and Conklin came in on an error.
Oneonta added its final run in the bottom of the fifth and held UV in the top of the sixth to end the game.
Both teams finished with eight hits on the night.
Cox, Osborne, and Johnny Favinger led the Storm with two hits as Drake and Conklin had the other two hits.
Logan Barker and Teagin Eccleston reached on a hit by pitch as Paul Ruffles reached base on two walks.
Nick Crandall got the start on the mound for the Storm. He went two and a third innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits, three walks, and a strikeout.
Conklin pitched in relief, allowing nine runs (six earned) on five hits, five walks, and two strikeouts.
Eccleston pitched an inning and two-thirds in relief, allowing one earned run on one hit, no walks, and two strikeouts.
UV (0-2) hosts Stamford on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
