Norwich PONY erases seven-run deficit, but comes up short at Walton

WALTON— The Norwich PONY league team traveled to Walton on Monday night, where the team erased a seven-run deficit, but fell shot 12-11 in the high-scoring affair.

After the game was tied at 3 after one, Norwich added a run in the top of the second before Walton blew the game open with an eight-run inning.

Norwich answered back with three runs in the third while Walton scored its final run in the fourth.

Norwich tried real hard to make a complete comeback with a four-run top of the fifth, but came up short.

Norwich had a great night at the plate, outhitting Walton 15-6.

Jadiel Jorge led the team with three hits and an RBI while Channing Foulds, Koltyn Collins (two doubles), Joey Portelli (a double) Mason Brunick, and Cooper Vischi all had two hits. Lucas Pope and Rocky Burke chimed in with one hit each. Portelli led the team with two RBIs as well.

Rocky Burke started on the mound for Norwich, going one inning, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on four hits, and seven walks. Jadiel Jorge worked four innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on two hits, two walks, and six strikeouts in the loss.

Norwich (0-5) heads to Schenevus this evening at 6 p.m.
