MORRIS — The 78th annual Otsego County Fair opens Tuesday, Aug. 4, with Ag Day featuring open swine, 4-H gymkhana, 4-H dairy, draft horse and rabbit shows.

At 6 p.m., the Jason Wicks Band will perform in the Grange Building. Fairgoers are invited to meet the Fair Board directors, with awards presented to outstanding directors and others. Light refreshments, including milk punch, will be served.

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, harness racing will begin at noon at the grandstand. The evening event at 7 p.m. will be the fire service and school band parade, followed by fireworks at dusk.

The entertainment tent will feature Krystal Lee at noon, the Barnyard Saints at 3 p.m. and adult and teen karaoke qualifiers at 7 p.m. Entertainment in the Grange Building will include the Harmonica Band at 2 p.m., Judy Pitel at 4 p.m. and Limitless Performing Arts Dance Studio at 8:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, the Black Cat Hell Drivers Stunt Show will begin at 7 p.m. at the grandstand. The Grange Building will feature the Sweet Adelines City of the Hills Chorus at 1:30 p.m. and the Otsego School of Dance and Performing Arts at 5 p.m. The entertainment tent will feature Dirt Road Express at 2 p.m. and the Rylee Lum Band at 7 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 7, is Senior Day, with antique and out-of-field tractor pulls beginning at 10 a.m. and the NYTPA tractor pulls at 7 p.m. in front of the grandstand.

The entertainment tent will feature the Barn Swallows at noon, the Burned Over Revival at 4 p.m., Krystal Lee at 6 p.m. and Jason Michael Carroll at 7 p.m.

The Grange Building will feature Mary Frances Perricone performing songs from the 1950s through the 1970s at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 8, will be Children’s Day, featuring a large giveaway for children and kids tractor pulls. The evening show at 7 p.m. will feature truck pulls and altered farm tractors, followed by fireworks at dusk.

The entertainment tent will feature a karaoke contest for children 12 and younger at noon, the Jessica Kay Band at 3 p.m., the Burned Over Revival at 6 p.m. and the adult and teen karaoke finale at 7 p.m.

The baby crawling and toddler walking contest for children up to 36 months old will begin at noon in the Grange Building. Participants must preregister by 11:30 a.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 9, D.N.A. Motorsports demolition derbies will be held at the grandstand at 1 and 6 p.m.

The Rylee Lum Band will perform in the entertainment tent at noon and 3 p.m. A cake walk will be held at 4 p.m. in the Canham Building, followed by the chainsaw auction at 5 p.m.

Daily events throughout the week will include 4-H and open shows, free milk and yogurt at select times at the dairy bar, Gizmo D. Robot and Paddy Wack, a petting zoo, the Tired Iron antique farm equipment display and the Federation of Sportsmen’s Associations display.

The Gillette Shows midway will offer pay-one-price rides from 2 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Before the fair opens, an open goat show will be held Sunday, Aug. 2, beginning at 10 a.m. A hymn sing will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in the Grange Building.
