OXFORD — The Oxford Blackhawks volleyball team opened up the 2026 season at home against Norwich on Wednesday night. Oxford defeated its non-league but neighboring opponent in all three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-23, and 25-11.
The second set was the most competitive and intense with Norwich taking an early lead before Oxford came back from behind to win. Bridgette Foster served on five straight points to help the Blackhawks win the set.
Foster finished with seven points won, six digs, four assists, and two aces.
Gabby Palmer added nine straight points in the third set along with five aces and five digs.
Alexa Barrows had eight assists while Keira Somers finished with five assists and Miley Depew with four kills.
Despite the loss, Norwich stayed in it with the Blackhawks with good serves and volleys.
Oxford (1-0) heads to the Sidney tournament on Saturday while Norwich (0-2) heads to Windsor this evening at 6:30 p.m.
The Oxford JV team defeated Norwich 2-1.
