NORWICH — Guernsey Memorial Library is wrapping up another successful Summer Reading Program. Thirty-three adults participated, ranging in age from 23 to 92. Fifty children and teens joined in, completing reading bingo boards to win prizes and to be entered into grand prize drawings at the end of the program.
Loma Wilkins was the Guernsey Memorial Library Adult Summer Reading Drawing Winner. Loma, who has been reading since before she started school, says “as long as I have enough books to read for the weekend, it will be a good one.”
Guernsey Memorial Library’s summer reading program for children and teens is a literacy initiative designed to encourage reading. Held annually, the program encourages children and teens to make reading a fun daily routine, connects families to the public library, and helps them to maintain and build reading skills. Additional goals for the summer reading bingo include exploring what the library has to offer, and encouraging creativity, physical exercise, and outdoor activities.
