NORWICH — The Norwich Purple Tornado cross country team hosted the Tornado 5000 over the weekend, featuring local opponent Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Chenango Forks, and Sidney during homecoming weekend. The BGAH varsity boys and modified teams won the meet with the varsity girls taking second behind Chenango Forks. The Norwich boys came in fourth place.

BGAH:

Boys:

The BGAH boys were led by Owen Degan with a top finish with the fastest time of 16:30. Sean Fowler earned a top five finish in fourth place with a time of 18:04. Ethan Beardslee just missed a top five finish as he took sixth with a time of 18:19. Rowan Beasinger and Jackari Garipoli came in 11th and 12th respectively.

Mason Lans and My’Kel George followed each other as well in 15th and 16th, along with Zion Lucchese, Connor Rowe, and Caleb Robertson in 28th, 29th, and 30th. Peter Blance finished 34th with a time of 34:56 out of a total of 35 male runners.

Girls:

The BGAH girls took second in the meet with Jalyn Winans leading the Bears with a seventh place finish with a time of 23:08.66. Lelaenia Baldwin followed in eighth place with a time of 23:32.15.

Macey LaFever, Ruth Wilson, Elzie John, and Gabby Gross finished 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively.

Myahlee Palmer came in 15th with a time of 27:54.99 with teammate Marissa Mayo in 16th with a time of 28:34.55.

NHS:

Nic Sutton led the Norwich boys with a top five finish with a time of 18:18. Richard Hatton came in 18th with a time of 21:30 with teammate Maddox Wolford running to a 24th place finish with a time of 22:58.

Ethan Tang ran to a 32nd place finish with a time of 31:18 as Adrien Browne followed in 33rd with a time of 32:42.

Lone female runner Malea Sutton came in 17th among a total of 17 female runners with a time of 29:16.43.
