Man discharges weapon before surrendering to police

NORWICH – A Norwich man discharged a 12-gauge shotgun to ward off police as they tried to arrest him Tuesday morning. Robert R, Tracey, 52, Riverview Trailer Park, discharged his weapon while police were searching for him, and he fled from officers. The Norwich City Police apprehended Tracey in a parking lot with weapons drawn.

“I’m grateful it turned out safely. It was a very intense situation and we’re glad we had such a quick response from the sheriff and state police, and from the environmental conservation officers in providing support,” said Chief Joseph Angelino.
