Bobcats get rematch with Crusaders

Bob Conway knew this date was coming: A return matchup with defending Class C champion Elmira Notre Dame.

The Crusaders ended B-G’s season a year ago, a 65-35 thrashing that was never close after the first period. “I felt last year, once we got into our offensive end and ran some offense, we had some good looks at the basket,” Conway. “But we just couldn’t get the ball up consistently against their pressure defense. We got into a hole, and it just got worse.”

Margie McKinnery returns at point guard, and again, she’ll likely defend B-G senior point guard and 1,000-point scorer, Jennifer Patten. “I hope our maturity kicks in and we play under control and with more composure,” Conway said. “I think Jennifer is better able to handle the pressure this year, and our two-guard play will handle the ball better. We also have a couple kids at the forward spots who may help us bring the ball up.”
