GREENE – Greene came as close as any team in the Midstate Athletic Conference to beat or tie Delhi this season – or the last.
Avery Meehan unlocked what looked to be a tie contest with his second goal of the game. Meehan scored with 38 seconds left in the period, the margin of victory for the Bulldogs.
Tied at zero at the break, each team traded goals in the second half with Greene’s Jake Shearer scoring unassisted.

DERUYTER – Under the lights at DeRuyter, Otselic Valley heads into the Section III playoffs on the upswing with a shutout of the Rockets Friday.
OV (11-6) scored twice in the first half to take command, and five different players were credited with goals.
“We did a real good job controlling the game with our passing, and our shots found the net,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “That hasn’t happened in a lot of games this season, but we did a better job of focusing on putting it in the net, and it showed up in the scoring.”
Adam Duell, Nate Stark, Dave Cerasani, Dusty Davis, and Brandon Coye had goals in the OV win.

ILION – Sherburne-Earlville finished up the regular season on a 6-1-1 streaking shutting out Ilion on Friday, 1-0, then coming back on Saturday to blank Mohawk, 4-0.
Karli Harris scored unassisted in the second half for the lone tally in Friday’s matchup. Candace Ward added two saves in goal.
Following that win up, Shelbie Dye scored the first of her two goals off a Harris pass with 3:10 left in the opening period. Dye, Courtney Jaspar, and Lindsay Hodges scored over the final 30 minutes within a five-minute time span. “We have been playing better hockey every game, and it’s a great way to end the regular season,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman

Center State Conference meet
Sherburne-Earlville’s boys placed 14th out of 16 teams at the Center State Conference cross country meet, and Dan Palmiter along with Sofeia Eddy led the way for the Marauders.
Palmiter continued his strong second half of the season finishing 31st out of 115 runners in 18:54. Dan Stanton was next in 69th at 20:14.
Eddy wound up 28th overall on the girls’ side timing a 22:59, while Jasmine Huff placed 42nd in 23:58. Times for the girls were unofficial.
