Montana Skies, Norwich theater

NORWICH – The Chenango County Council of the Arts presents Montana Skies in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Martin W. Kappel Theatre, 27 West Main St., Norwich.
The internationally renowned cello and guitar duo utilizes amplified acoustic instruments that create a larger, full spectrum sound like an orchestra, but with the energy of a rock band. The result is eclectic music with multiple layers, textures and rhythm.
“This is a great ending to our 2008/09 performance series. Montana Skies is an eclectic, family friendly, high energy duo that will rock the theater!” said CCCA Executive Director Victoria Kappel.
Jennifer and Jonathan Adams delve into music from Pink Floyd to Vivaldi, as well as their own award-winning originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Hallmark and Travel Channel. Montana Skies’ debut recording reached #1 on world and instrumental music radio charts in April and May 2004, helping them win “Best New Artist” for the 2004 Lifestyle Radio Awards.” Their second album, “Chasing the Sun” also reached #1 on the instrumental charts and won “Best Acoustic Album” in the 2005 Lifestyle Radio Awards.
Currently, Montana Skies is on tour in support of their first live CD/DVD, “Live From the Mable Barnes Amphitheater,” due for release this spring on Sonic Grapefruit Records. Recorded at the 2,400 seat Mable Barnes Amphitheater in metro-Atlanta.
According to reviews, the duo attack their live sets “with a fury and passion rarely seen in modern contemporary music.”
The duo’s international touring schedule has taken them across the U.S., Canada and to Asia and Russia. Highlights from their touring have included: the Seoul Arts Center (2,500 seats) in S. Korea; the Manezh arena in Moscow, Russia; the Great Falls Civic Auditorium (1,800 seats) in Montana; and the new backstage series at the Morrison Center in Boise, Idaho.
Montana Skies has posted a 30-minute preview from the new DVD, which can be found on website, www.montanaskiesmusic.com. The site also features mp3 downloads, including several new tracks and the duo’s take on the classic Pink Floyd tune, “Another Brick in the Wall,” the first single from the release.
