Loomis joins Norwich School Board; Owen resumes seat

NORWICH – After standing vacant for nearly two months, the seventh seat on the Norwich City School Board of Education has been filled. Bill Loomis, a former member of the board with children enrolled in the district, was appointed to fill the vacancy at last night’s re-organizational meeting.
Loomis, who served on the board in the 1990s, was immediately sworn in following the appointment.
Board member Joe Stagliano said he was impressed by Loomis’ demeanor and professionalism when he met the man and believes he will be an “immediate value to the board.”
Also joining the board last night was Perry Owen, who began his first elected term in office. Owen was appointed to fill a vacancy in August of last year, but a quirk of state law prevented him from remaining on the board in the interim period between the school board election in May and the start of his elected term.
