NORWICH – It was a strong showing for Norwich in its season-opener Friday. Before the rains came to wash out play, Norwich racked up five team points to blank the Black Knights.
“It was a strong showing for us,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “We won all of our matches in straight sets pretty convincingly. It’s a good start out of the gate for hopefully a great season.”
Bryn Loomis, Sophie Stewart, Reva Seager, and Jessica Lerner did not allow more than three games in any one set to sweep in singles. Emily Stewart and Katie Orioli rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the only doubles match that was completed.

SIDNEY – Dani Gravel completed her hat track at 6:31 of the first overtime giving Sidney an opening-round win over B-G Friday in the Mang Tournament.
Gravel lifted her club to a 2-1 lead in the final 10 minutes of regulation scoring back-to-back goals at 9:25 and 8:03.
B-G, who led most of the game, forced overtime with 2:14 remaining on Chelsi Rosa’s goal.
The Bobcats took the lead in the first half on Raileigh Paul’s tally.
B-G plays Windsor today at 3 p.m. in the consolation game.
