County mourns loss of former Supervisors Chairman Glenn Angell
LINCKLAEN – The Chenango County Board of Supervisors observed a moment of silence this week to remember former board Chairman Glenn R. Angell, 71, who passed away on Sunday.
Town of Lincklaen Supervisor Wayne Outwater said Angell’s 30 years of public service to Lincklaen and to Chenango County would be well remembered.
The sparsely populated rural town located in the northwest corner of the county is perhaps best known for Angell’s many years of representation and contributions. The supervisor was a well respected dairy farmer and spearheaded many community projects, including the paving of Lincklaen roads and repairing of the town’s bridges during the 1990s.
Reached this morning, New York State Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch, who was elected Chenango County Board of Supervisors Chairman following Angell’s term, said he was shocked and saddened to learn of his friend’s death.
“He was a good friend. We shared many times on the county board and stories about dairy farming,” he said.
Angell was Lincklaen Town Supervisor from 1974-1995, chairman of the Chenango County Board of Supervisors from 1988-1992 and Lincklaen Town Council from 1996-2003. His biggest accomplishments on the county level were doubling the size of the Chenango County Office Building, implementing the construction of the Chenango County Solid Waste Facility in Pharsalia, and successfully fighting the proposed nuclear waste dump in 1989.
