Two new automotive businesses open up in Norwich
NORWICH – Two new automotive businesses in Norwich have opened their doors at one location offering customers their combined expertise in complete automotive care and restoration.
Robert Greenman, owner of Bob’s Collision and Customs, along with Christopher D. Maceda, owner of Maceda Automotive, opened for business Monday at 5442 state Route 12, a few hundred yards south of the Walmart intersection in the Town of Norwich.
Combined, the two men have three decades of automotive repair experience. Before opening their respective businesses, they were co-workers at a local automotive shop that recently left the area.
“We’ve worked together for a while. We understand how to get along and what needs to be done. We’re both dedicated to the little things. We know only good quality work will keep customers coming back,” said Greenman.
“As new business owners, we want to build a quality reputation and the only way to do that is with high quality work. When people come in, they know it’s not just an employee working on their vehicle, it’s the owners. We’re invested,” added Maceda. “To us this is an opportunity of a lifetime.”
The two businesses share the same building, and a customer sitting in the lobby probably wouldn’t realize the two offices down the hall were separate companies, especially with the owners working so closely together.
The businesses operate together from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Greenman said Bob’s Collision and Customs specializes in restoration and insurance work while Maceda Automotive offers full service mechanical repair and maintenance. Bob’s Collision and Customs can be contacted at 244-6241 and Maceda Automotive at 334-4227.
Maceda said he was offering new tires at cost to customers during his first month of business.
“That’s cheaper than most competitors sell them. I won’t be making any money off the tires and they come with a 40,000 to 60,000 free mileage warranty and road hazard replacement,” he said.
The businesses held a grand opening ceremony Monday with representatives from the Chenango County Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Norwich attending a ribbon cutting.
“If there’s anything that needs to be first on our list it’s the quality of our work. I always try to wipe down every little part that we’re working on. People get home, they want to look at the parts and see something that looks like it actually had work done on it. It should look clean and as new as possible,” said Maceda. “Taking 10 extra minutes of careful effort is more than worth it if the job gets done well and people are happy.”
“We just hope our dedication to a job we both enjoy and our attention to detail will keep us in business,” added Greenman.
