Central New York Bounty closed for “remodel”
MORRISVILLE – Those who have come to rely on fresh, local foods delivered to their door are out of luck for the next few months.
“Home deliveries for CNY Bounty have been temporarily suspended until June 1,” explained Rebecca Hargrave of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chenango County, referring to the service which connects local agricultural producers with consumers throughout Central New York.
According to Hargrave, the interruption of service – or “remodel” as she called it – was necessitated by three factors: staffing changes, vehicle maintenance issues and the need to re-develop the organization’s website.
Limited wholesale deliveries are still being made, and operations are continuing, she reported, but customers will have to wait until the re-launch of the program in mid-May. Deliveries are scheduled to resume on June 1.
The suspension of the program is not only affecting consumers, but the more than 90 farmers and producers who sell through the “Farmers’ Market at your Door.” In recognition of this, a message posted to the CNY website, www.cnybounty.com, encourages people to contact producers directly, or look for their products in local stores.
Some of those producers, like Drew and Sandy Piaschyk of Lamb Quarters Organic Farm in Plymouth, have posted notices for CNY Bounty customers on their own websites pledging to continue to deliver their products directly to consumers during the service interruption. Those interested are directed to contact them directly for prices and availability.
