Plane makes emergency landing at Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport

NORWICH – A single-engine aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Lt. Warren Eaton Airport after its onboard electrical system failed.

The plane, a six-passenger Piper Saratoga, was piloted by David Texeira of Michigan. A single passenger, Robin Kingsley, was also onboard.

According to a flight plan filed by Texeira with the FAA, the couple departed Hamburg Airport in Erie County at 11:50 a.m. Thursday. They were en route to Westover Metropolitan Airport in Chickopee, Mass.

Less than an hour into the flight, the plane experienced the electrical problem. Texeira was directed to the Norwich airport by the Boston Air Traffic Control Center. Boston Center alerted the Chenango County 911 Center to the situation at 12:43 p.m., when the aircraft was 2 to 3 miles from the airport.
