Two appear in County Court

One person faces up to a year in the Chenango County Correctional Facility and another is now awaiting trial after making their pleas in Chenango County Court on Friday.
Dequay Shoulders, a 30-year-old a Syracuse resident, pled not guilty before being remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail (or $150,000 property), on three charges - two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, class B felonies, as well as one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.
According to Shoulders' attorney, Susan Lettis, he “does want to the opportunity to work with probation” and “understands the severity of the charges and has respect for the court in the process.”
It is alleged that on or about Sept. 11, in the Town of New Berlin, Shoulders, was arrested following a “no-knock” search warrant executed at 118 Meadow Lane. Upon entering the residence, officers of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division found a large quantity – approximately one ounce – of crack cocaine, cash, packaging material and other drug paraphernalia.
During the event, the home's residents, Jessica Crisell, 32, and Alan Crisell, 31, were also charged with first degree criminal nuisance, a class E felony, for allegedly “maintaining a premises at which the unlawful sales of controlled substances” did occur, according to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office. Jessica Crisell was also charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor. Both are currently waiting to appear before a grand jury in November.
Joshua Robertson, 27, Sidney, entered a guilty plea of guilty to the charges of attempted robbery in the second degree, a class D felony, and may now serve up to one year in the Chenango County Correctional Facility.
It is alleged that on May 9, in the Town of Afton, Robertson, in concert with others, “did attempt to forcibly steal property” and cause injury to an Afton resident during a robbery, according to a statement read by County Judge Frank Revoir.
Robertson was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail until his official sentencing in November.
