DELHI – Unadilla Valley turned up the pressure in the second half Friday night to deal Delhi its first defeat of the season.
After sitting much of the first half with foul trouble, UV sophomore David Dufresne keyed the Storm’s offense scoring all 18 of his points.
“We played much better defense in the second half and we boxed out their big guys better,” said Unadilla Valley coach Matt Osborne. “We didn’t play our best game, but we struggled through it.”
Nate Shackleton added 15 points, and sophomore Brett Hanslmaier scored nine points to go with 15 rebounds.
The Storm host Walton on Wednesday.

SIDNEY – Greene rebounded from its opening defeat with its first victory at Sidney in several years.
The Trojans had big first and third quarters, and built their lead to 24 points at the end of three after outscoring the Warriors 29-10 in the period.
Justin Ekstrom hit all five of his three balls in the third scoring 17 of his career-high 25 points. “I’m not sure of the last time we won at Sidney, so this is an important win for our team and our program,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “We came out in the third period energetic, and we shot the ball tremendously.”
Zach Wentlent added 21 points for Greene, and Brandon Davis had his second straight double-double finishing with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

HANCOCK – Oxford was unable to complete the rally in Friday’s loss at Hancock.
Down by 11 in the third, buckets by Greg Brewer, Kevin Davis, and free throws from Cameron Heggie allowed the Blackhawks to briely take the lead. “At the end of the game, we just had too many turnovers, and we weren’t getting shots,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis. “We did shoot free throws and shoot it better, and overall, the turnovers were down.”
Heggie had 18 points to lead Oxford, and Davis had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Oxford hosts Unatego Wednesday.

HOLLAND PATENT – Sherburne-Earlville contained Holland Patent’s high-powered offense, and cruised to a comfortable road victory Friday night.
Already staked to a big halftime lead, the Marauders expanded the margin to 35 points in the third quarter. “They started to press us full court, and we were able to break the press with ease,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “(Holland Patent) has an up-tempo team, and I think they probably felt they needed to try to get back into the game. Our guards were under control and handled the pressure.”
Austin Jasper scored in bunches at the end of the press break scoring 17 of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter. Elijah Morris and Ben Khoury contributed 10 points apiece for S-E (2-0, 4-1).

MORRISVILLE – Cincinnatus jumped out to a tremendous start in Saturday’s victory over Otselic Valley at Morrisville College.
Cincy’s Matt Lindley had 15 points and Casey Feehan hit three trifectas on his way to an 11-point game. The Red Lions opened with a 26-5 opening quarter, but were outscored by six over the final three quarters.
“We did do a few things better than the last couple of games,” said Vikings coach Dave Loomis. “We just need to do more of it.”
Tyler Armstrong scored 11 points and Matt Neal 10 for OV, who host Blessed Virgin Mary Tuesday.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville and Unadilla Valley advanced to the finals of the Marauders’ tournament with victories Friday.
S-E was held to a season-low point total against the stingy Bobcats as starting guards Jordan van Althuis and Savannah Irwin were held to four total points.
Picking up the slack offensively were Lilly Berg and reserve guard Mattie Dowdall. Berg had 18 points and Dowdall 11 as S-E stayed unbeaten. “We had some good looks, we just didn’t shoot well,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “B-G rebounds well, and was tenacious on the glass.”
Morgan Bullis and Taylor Palmatier scored 11 points apiece for the Bobcats.
UV won a wild tournament opener outlasting Vernon-Verona Sherrill in double overtime.
Corrine Izard scored a career-high 24 points, and it was her bucket late in the fourth that sent the game into overtime. Izard scored 14 of her points in overtime and the two extra periods, and the Storm went 10-for-15 from the foul line over the two extra periods to put the Devils away.
Taylor Davis added 18 points in the win, and Emily Converse had 13.
Saturday’s games were postponed due to poor weather. The finals and consolation finals will be rescheduled at a date to be determined.

GREENE – Greene did not have an answer for Chenango Forks’ Alex Yoest.
Yoest hit three three-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points in Friday’s contest. “We felt we needed to stop Yoest, and we a terrible job defensively,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We gave her open shots and allowed her to dribble penetrate. She broke down our defense and just played a great game.”
Greene missed 16 layups in the first half and had 23 offensive rebounds for the game. “Our defensive rebounding was not nearly as good,” Gorton said. “We’re not playing the way we need to play.”

Jessica Worzel scored 17 points for Hancock and Ashley Drake added 14. Oxford, held to just two baskets in the first meeting, exceeded that point total in the first quarter. “Even though we lost by 26, I was pleased with our team’s effort,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We showed much more offensive ability and defensive intensity than Monday night. I hope, with this type effort, we will see continued improvement.

MORRIS – Morris turned back G-MU in the fourth quarter to beat the Raiders by 10 points Friday.
G-MU trailed by double digits in the first half, but was within a couple of buckets late in the third and early in the fourth period. “We just had a couple turnovers here and there (in the fourth quarter) that hurt us,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “Morris was just a little more physical than us in spots, and quicker to the ball.”
No G-MU player had more than five points.
Haley Wist had 11 points for Morris and Alexis Forgit added 10.

NORWICH – Norwich remained unbeaten on the season beating Chenango Forks Friday at Norwich High School.
Leading by only three points after the diving competition, Norwich began to expand its advantage with a one-two-finish in the 100 freestyle, and another one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke. Joe Stagliano and Dan Zieno claimed the top two spots in the freestyle, while Nick Mooney and Stagliano dominated in the breaststroke.
Curtis Woodard and Killian Benedict won two individual events for Norwich. Woodard took the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly; Benedict the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Ricky Finnegan (diving) and Jon Manwarren (500 free) picked up victories, ,and the Tornado (4-0) swept the three relays.
Norwich is at Owego Wednesday.

HOLLAND PATENT – Sherburne-Earlville contained Holland Patent’s high-powered offense, and cruised to a comfortable road victory Friday night.
Already staked to a big halftime lead, the Marauders expanded the margin to 35 points in the third quarter. “They started to press us full court, and we were able to break the press with ease,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “(Holland Patent) has an up-tempo team, and I think they probably felt they needed to try to get back into the game. Our guards were under control and handled the pressure.”
Austin Jasper scored in bunches at the end of the press break scoring 17 of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter. Elijah Morris and Ben Khoury contributed 10 points apiece for S-E (2-0, 4-1).

MORRISVILLE – Cincinnatus jumped out to a tremendous start in Saturday’s victory over Otselic Valley at Morrisville College.
Cincy’s Matt Lindley had 15 points and Casey Feehan hit three trifectas on his way to an 11-point game. The Red Lions opened with a 26-5 opening quarter, but were outscored by six over the final three quarters.
“We did do a few things better than the last couple of games,” said Vikings coach Dave Loomis. “We just need to do more of it.”
Tyler Armstrong scored 11 points and Matt Neal 10 for OV, who host Blessed Virgin Mary Tuesday.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville and Unadilla Valley advanced to the finals of the Marauders’ tournament with victories Friday.
S-E was held to a season-low point total against the stingy Bobcats as starting guards Jordan van Althuis and Savannah Irwin were held to four total points.
Picking up the slack offensively were Lilly Berg and reserve guard Mattie Dowdall. Berg had 18 points and Dowdall 11 as S-E stayed unbeaten. “We had some good looks, we just didn’t shoot well,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “B-G rebounds well, and was tenacious on the glass.”
Morgan Bullis and Taylor Palmatier scored 11 points apiece for the Bobcats.
UV won a wild tournament opener outlasting Vernon-Verona Sherrill in double overtime.
Corrine Izard scored a career-high 24 points, and it was her bucket late in the fourth that sent the game into overtime. Izard scored 14 of her points in overtime and the two extra periods, and the Storm went 10-for-15 from the foul line over the two extra periods to put the Devils away.
Taylor Davis added 18 points in the win, and Emily Converse had 13.
Saturday’s games were postponed due to poor weather. The finals and consolation finals will be rescheduled at a date to be determined.

GREENE – Greene did not have an answer for Chenango Forks’ Alex Yoest.
Yoest hit three three-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points in Friday’s contest. “We felt we needed to stop Yoest, and we a terrible job defensively,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We gave her open shots and allowed her to dribble penetrate. She broke down our defense and just played a great game.”
Greene missed 16 layups in the first half and had 23 offensive rebounds for the game. “Our defensive rebounding was not nearly as good,” Gorton said. “We’re not playing the way we need to play.”

HANCOCK – In a rematch of Monday’s game, Hancock beat Oxford for the second time Friday evening.
Jessica Worzel scored 17 points for Hancock and Ashley Drake added 14. Oxford, held to just two baskets in the first meeting, exceeded that point total in the first quarter. “Even though we lost by 26, I was pleased with our team’s effort,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “We showed much more offensive ability and defensive intensity than Monday night. I hope, with this type effort, we will see continued improvement.

MORRIS – Morris turned back G-MU in the fourth quarter to beat the Raiders by 10 points Friday.
G-MU trailed by double digits in the first half, but was within a couple of buckets late in the third and early in the fourth period. “We just had a couple turnovers here and there (in the fourth quarter) that hurt us,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “Morris was just a little more physical than us in spots, and quicker to the ball.”
No G-MU player had more than five points.
Haley Wist had 11 points for Morris and Alexis Forgit added 10.

NORWICH – Norwich remained unbeaten on the season beating Chenango Forks Friday at Norwich High School.
Leading by only three points after the diving competition, Norwich began to expand its advantage with a one-two-finish in the 100 freestyle, and another one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke. Joe Stagliano and Dan Zieno claimed the top two spots in the freestyle, while Nick Mooney and Stagliano dominated in the breaststroke.
Curtis Woodard and Killian Benedict won two individual events for Norwich. Woodard took the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly; Benedict the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Ricky Finnegan (diving) and Jon Manwarren (500 free) picked up victories, ,and the Tornado (4-0) swept the three relays.
Norwich is at Owego Wednesday.
