Local seniors focus of Chenango County Area Agency on Aging Annual Public Hearing
NORWICH – Chenango County Area Agency on Aging considers the rising needs of community seniors. The public is invited to attend the agency's Annual Public Hearing at 10 a.m. on Wedsnesday, Nov. 12 in the Community Room of 33 Mechanic St. in Norwich.
CCAAA is required to hold an annual hearing for the community to voice their opinions about services available to seniors in Chenango County.
Agency Director Debra Sanderson said, “It's a great opportunity to express concerns in the community regarding services for seniors and talk about any unmet needs. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend; it's not just for seniors.”
CCAAA offers several different services to local seniors 60 years and older, including nutrition programs, legal services, home care services, in-home outreach, community senior centers, help with Medicare related health insurance, home energy assistance and a personal emergency response system.
Sanderson said topics like the quality of life for seniors in Chenango County and how the growing demand for senior services will be met in the future are examples of what will be discussed at the hearing. She also said input from the public is invaluable to the agency.
“I would like more people to participate, because I think meeting the needs of seniors is important for the whole community,” said Sanderson.
The event is free and open to the public. The meeting location is handicapped accessible. Call 337-1770 for more information or if special accommodations are needed.
