Chenango Arts Council primps for night out

NORWICH — With a mere one day left until the Chenango Arts Council pops the champagne for its Bi-annual Gala, organizers are abuzz tying up loose ends and placing finishing touches on the event.

“There is so much anticipation and excitement before an event like this,” said CAC Executive Director Diane Batson-Smith, “The Council board has worked tirelessly to ensure that this community-building fundraiser goes off without a hitch.”

While the event – booked at the Northeast Classic Car Museum this year– is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday, Batson-Smith said that there are still a few spots available, and that a very limited number of tickets can still be purchased by community members if interested in attending.

“The CAC Bi-annual Gala is our highlight event in terms of fundraising, and we really want the public to play an active part in what is essentially their Arts Council,” Batson-Smith said.

Alluding to her desire to increase community participation of programming at the W. Main St. facility, the recently appointed Batson-Smith makes it clear that she wants an open dialogue with members of the Chenango County community in an effort to steer programming to the tastes of the public.
