SHERBURNE – Gavin Giroux scored the first eight points of the second half and had 11 in the third quarter as Sherburne-Earlville was able to extend a four-point halftime lead to 19 in Friday night’s win
Giroux finished with a career high 21 points and 20 rebounds leading three S-E players in double figures scoring. Ben Khoury and Matt Hull each had a dozen, and Derek Capria was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line.
The Marauders scored the first 10 points of the game dominating the offensive glass. Giroux had eight in the opening quarter, Hull hit a three, and Khoury scored on a layup to end the period.
Clinton, just a one-win team this season, erupted for 26 second-quarter points closing the 13-point deficit to 33-29 at halftime.
Malaquias Canery spearheaded the comeback with nine points in the second, and two free throws from Kyle Morris drew Clinton to within 30-29 with 53 seconds left in the half.
After a pair of defensive stops, Khoury, who was on the bench with two fouls, was inserted into the lineup with under 15 seconds to play. Khoury completed a traditional three-point play just before the halftime buzzer raising the S-E lead back to four.
“The second quarter we didn’t play nearly as well as the first, but in the third quarter, we forced a lot of turnovers and put the hammer to them,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard.
Saturday, the Marauders (9-2) picked up their eighth straight victory beating Camden on the road.
Khoury and Giroux scored 14 apiece, while Capria and Hull netted nine each. “We’re very happy to be where we are,” Vibbard said.. “We’re playing smart, aggressive basketball, and good team defense.”
S-E hosts Cooperstown Friday.

HARPURSVILLE – Greene made up an eight-point deficit in the first half holding Harpursville to single-digit scoring the final three quarters to improve to 4-0 in MAC league play.
Greene’s Jordan Harrington scored 13 points, Luke Day had 11 points, six steals, and seven rebounds, and Joe Miranda posted his second straight double scoring 10 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
“Harpursville hurt us on the boards, but we were able to cut the deficit to four points by halftime,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “We used an aggressive man-to-man defense in the second half, and were able to take the lead and extend it.”
Greene hosts Afton today.

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley turned to its reliable press, and combined with the inside play of Hank deGlee and Brett Hanslmaier, turned back Deposit's second-half rally Friday.
Devin Schmitz hit three-pointers on three straight possessions for Deposit to cut a 12-point UV halftime lead to three in the third quarter. "We turned them over with our press, and we the ball inside to Hank and Brett," said UV coach Matt Osborne. "We had good ball movement in the second half, and were getting the ball down low from the high post."
Ethan Grey hit four three-pointers in the first half, three in the second quarter, lifting the Storm to a 33-21 lead at the break. Grey led with 17 points, deGlee had 15, while Hanslmaier racked up 10 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and five assists.
Unadilla Valley overcame a slow start to defeat Walton Saturday.
The Storm, down by seven at the first turn, outscored the Warriors 38-13 over the middle two periods.
Brett Hanslmaier had 14 points for UV, 12 coming in the middle stanzas. For the second time this week, every player on the UV roster contributed to the scoring column. Johnny Schermerhorn added 10 points in the win.

BAINBRIDGE – Unatego's big third quarter pushed its halftime lead to 26 points in Friday's victory over Bainbridge-Guilford.
The Spartans outscored the Bobcats 25-7 in the third to follow up a 21-point second stanza. Tanner Winchester scored 20 for Unatego, and Kyle Spalding netted 18. “The third quarter was the difference in the game,” said B-G coach Greg Warren.
Ryan Jones had a team-high 18 points for B-G.

COPES CORNERS – Nathaniel Johnson scored five straight points to help Richfield Springs make up a five-point deficit midway through the fourth, and Eric Proctor had the go-ahead basket late in the game in Richfield Springs' win at G-MU Friday.
After Johnson's run tied the game at 50-50, the two clubs traded baskets with Hunter Lockwood scoring twice for the Raiders. The Raiders had multiple sets down the stretch where it executed, but failed to knock down shots.
"We had good looks at the basket, we just came up short," said G-MU coach Greg Bonczkowski. "A few bounces go our way, it could've been a different outcome."
Nate O'Hara had 26 points and nine rebounds to lead the Raiders, and freshman Mickenson Clune totaled 13 points and nine boards. "O'Hara did a nice job shooting, and the other kids did a nice job finding him in places where he could be successful," Bonczkowski said.

DELHI – Delhi's defense held Oxford to 14 second-half points lifting the Bulldogs to big turnaround in Friday's home win.
Oxford took a three-point lead into halftime. The Blackhawks had seven three-pointers in the game, and Kevin Davis scored a team-best 15 points.
"We played really well in the first half, maybe the best we have played all season," said Oxford coach Tim Davis. "Delhi plays tenacious full-court defense and trap a lot. Our young players still get a little overexcited."
Oxford hosts G-MU today.

CLINTON – Sherburne-Earlville notched its marquis win of the season knocking off state-ranked Clinton Friday night.
With the game tied at 51 with just over a minute to play, Lexi Elderkin drove for a layup and completed a three-point play. After a defensive stop, Lilly Berg was fouled and hit two free throws with 13 seconds left to seal the win.
"It was definitely a big win for us on the road," said S-E coach Karen Mulligan.
The Marauders had four players finish in double figures led by Savannah Irwin's 15 points. Berg scored 14 to go with 14 rebounds, Elderkin had 11, and Emily Stanton finished with a season-best 10. "Emily played tonight like we thought she could all season," Mulligan said.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – G-MU trimmed a double-digit deficit to three with two minutes remaining before Richfield Springs put the game on ice Friday night.
The Raiders made 10 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter closing to 41-38. A bucket and two free throws from Kelly Mosher combined with three Kaity Richvalsky free throws keyed the Richfield Springs effort.
"We gave them a run for their money on their court," said G-MU coach Jim Johnson, who said Richfield Springs is one of the top teams in the Tri-Valley League. "We played really well tonight."
Katie Schultes hit two three-pointers in the third quarter to key the G-MU comeback finishing with 11 points to share team-high scoring honors with Meghan Meers. Kelsey Ross had a big fourth quarter for G-MU, and wound up with 10.
