Broome woman killed in Saturday crash
MARATHON — A Broome County woman was killed following a fatal alcohol related two-vehicle accident in Village of Marathon, Saturday.
New York State Police said that Christopher E. Tanner, 42, of Marathon, was driving northbound on US Route 11 when he crossed the center of the roadway and entered the southbound lane.
Tanner's vehicle struck a motorcycle operated by Shanon L. Nasoni, of Endicott.
LifeNet transported Nasoni to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where she was later pronounced dead at age 49.
Authorities indicate that Tanner was intoxicated upon their arrival to the scene. He was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated, with blood alcohol content at least .21 percent.
Tanner was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right.
He was arraigned in the Town of Marathon Court and is being held at the Cortland County Correctional Facility without bail.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Marathon and Virgil Fire Departments and New York State Department of Transportation.
