BAINBRIDGE - In a home game last night, Tuesday, September, 22, the Bainbridge-Guilford boys' varsity soccer team hosted Walton and came away with the win 1-0.
The winning goal was scored by Daniel Norris with just over seven minutes left in the first half. B-G's offense is what won them the game, out-shooting their opponents 11 to five.
On defense Bobcat's goal keeper Shawn Jones registered five saves on the night; successfully defending every shot that Walton would fire at him.
With this win Bainbridge-Guilford improves to 4-4 overall on the season. They will play again tomorrow, Thursday, September, 24, when they travel to Unatego.

Sherburne-Earlville

SHERBURNE - The Sherburne-Earlville girls' varsity soccer team would travel to Canastota last night, Tuesday, September, 22, and win 3-2 in a come-from-behind victory over their opponents.
Down 1-0 going into the second half the Marauders had their work cut out for them. Rattling off three goals to win were Taylor Coughlin, Lexi Elderkin, and Savannah Irwin. The three girls' goals were enough to keep Canastota's own offense at bay, after another Canastota score, and win the match 3-2.
The Marauder girls will play again this Friday, September, 25, when they take on VVS.

Afton-Harpursville

AFTON - Sidney would travel to Afton last night to play against the Afton-Harpursville boys' varsity soccer team. The game would end in overtime with Afton-Harpursville as the winner with a score of 2-1.
In the first half of the game both teams would score to force the tie. For Afton-Harpursville it was Kyle Hinman who would take the ball downfield and fire a shot into the goal for his team's first score. Sidney's Michael Gravlin would score Sidney's lone goal of the game.
Since neither team would score in the second half the game would go into overtime. Troy Mercilliott would be the hero of the game for his team, scoring the final goal of the night for Afton-Harpursville and ending the game with a score of 2-1.

Greene

GREENE - Last night the Greene boys' varsity soccer team hosted Unatego and won handily, 3-0.
In the first half of play Greene scored twice, once off of a Kevin Halsteter goal and again from a Luke Day shot. Halsteter and Day have been consistant players for the Trojans all season long, contributing to the team's offense almost every game.
In the second half of a shut out, Greene's Spencer Klumpp forwarded a pass to Ben Kinney who fired a shot past the Unatego goaltender for the game's third goal. "We had a pretty good offensive game," said Greene coach Rick Tallman. "We took a lot of shots and controlled the game very well."
Tallman also expressed credit to the Unatego goal keeper, Mark Maruszoski. Maruszoski racked up 13 saves over the course of the game and made some incredible saves over the course of the night.
Greene goes on the road tomorrow, Thursday, September, 24, when they travel to Walton.

Unadilla Valley

NEW BERLIN - Delhi defeated the Unadilla Valley boys' soccer team in a contest at UV yesterday, Tuesday, September, 22, by a final score of 6-2.
The Bulldogs started things off when Cody Wamsley took a left footed bullet from 22 yards out to beat Storm Keeper Adam Lamont. Defender Kyle Brown followed up Wamsley's effort with a 30 yard shot that slipped by the Storm defense, giving the Delhi a 2-0 lead.
A UV own goal off a Wamsley break away put the Bulldogs up 3-0 just before halftime.
Wamsley would do it again when he came down with the ball on a break away. His shot was challenged, but hit the near side post before bouncing into Ben Avolio and deflected into the goal by the Storm Defender.
The second half saw more of the same as Michael Bryden made a neat effort to score, as did Quinn McKeegan. The Storm bounced back with Conor Pope converting a penalty kick and 8th grader Dylan Nichols netting his fourth goal of the season. Finally Brown converted on a shot that went through Lamonts legs to finish the game at 6-2.

Sherburne-Earlville

SHERBURNE - Last night the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders hosted Proctor High School in a swim meet that would see the Marauders win by a score of 55-41.
The S-E girls would go on to win eight of the night's 11 events, including diving. Winning the first five races, the Marauder girls were on a roll against the visiting team.
S-E's Anna Rinaldo and Liz Bachman both won multiple events for their team in their win.
Sherburne-Earlville will compete again tomorrow, Thursday, September, 24, when they travel to Rome.

Oxford/Greene

GREENE - In a hard fought match last night, Tuesday, September, 22, the Oxford golf team traveled to Greene to take on the Trojans. After all was said and done Oxford would come out on top 226 to 245.
Shooting the low round of the match was Oxford's Josh Nelson who shot a season best 36, just one over par for the course. For Greene it was Marcus Dickerson who shot the low score for his team with a 39, just three behind Nelson and four ahead of his next best team mate, Wyatt Harrison.

Norwich

SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY - Last night Norwich traveled to Susquehanna Valley to take on the Sabers in what would be a heart breaker for Norwich as Susquehanna Valley would take the match 4-3.
In singles action Makenzie Maynard would take her match in two straight sets defeating SV's Celia Clifford. Caroline Stewart and Samantha Gage would win their singles matches as well in two sets.
In doubles, both Norwich's teams would fall to Susquehanna Valley players, effectively giving SV the win.
After last night's tough loss, Norwich fell to 6-2 overall on the season. The Purple Tornado will play again tomorrow, Thursday, September, 24, when they host Windsor.
