Event tonight brings together dreamers and successful entrepreneurs

OXFORD – An Oxford-based committee created to build bridges between business-minded individuals and successful entrepreneurs will host its fourth installment of a series of seminars on entrepreneurship tonight at the Oxford high school.
“Entrepreneur Night” is a night of networking, information, and idea sharing among some of the area’s most innovative minds. The event starts at 6 p.m. and, just as previous events hosted by the committee, it’s open to the public.
From 6-6:45 p.m., attendees may choose from two workshops. The first workshop, titled “Innovative Early Literacy Strategies,” is for families and student supporters in the community. Oxford educators Anita Sitarski and Jeanne Marshman will present “The Blackhawk Box” and explain the tools needed to build a firm foundation for early childhood literacy and readiness.
The second workshop, “Practical Skills for Teen Entrepreneurs,” is for middle and high school students to gain insight from entrepreneurial college student Dominick Recckio. Recckio will lead a group conversation about creating an innovative path to success in school, work, business, and the community.
All are invited to stay for the third workshop of the evening, “So You Want to be an Entrepreneur?” set to take place from 7-8:30 p.m. Targeted toward entrepreneurs of all ages, this workshop encourages innovative thinkers to take their business idea to the next level. The session features keynote speakers Brad Treat and Ken Rother of the Southern Tier Startup Alliance, as well as Golden Artist Colors co-founder and CEO Mark Golden.
The first 50 people who sign in at the resource table at the third session will also receive a free USB preloaded with entrepreneurship resources.
Entrepreneur Night is sponsored by Oxford Academy and Central School District, Southern Tier Startup Alliance, and Commerce Chenango. It’s the fourth event presented by a working group of leaders and networkers from all sectors of greater Chenango County, including the Oxford Academy Central School District, Town and Village of Oxford, Commerce Chenango, local business persons, and other local foundations, community organizations, and higher education.
