NORWICH – The Golden 20’s league met up Wednesday night, Mar. 9, to host their weekly competition. ‘Challengers’ ran out the eventual winners, notching up 51 total points. Only a one-point margin separated them from ‘On “D” Ball’ in second, with 50 points, and ‘Act II’, who also recorded 50 points.
The best three bowlers on the night on the men’s side were: Don May, who finished with the highest scoring three game series, bowling a 561, and a single game-high of 191; Denny Hoxie, who bowled a 511 three-game series, and Walt Schermerhorn, who rolled a 543 series on the night, and racked up the highest single game tally, with 231.
On the women’s side, Darla Race took the title of best series on the night, bowling a 493 three-game series, along with a league-high single game score of 185. Other notables were: Sylvia Witchella, who notched up a 405 series on the night, with a game-high score of 149 and Charlene Lafever, who had a single-game high tally of 161, on her way to a 439 series.
