Moore explained that Hannah Eddy the base on an error, followed by Kate Dowdall who went 2-2 on the day, earning a hit with a single. “Alex Colley roped a good double to the fence and scored both of them,” said Moore of their two runs in the second inning. “Then we just couldn’t get anything going again, they pitched around Kassidy, and Shannon, they know these girls.”
Moore explained that four errors committed by Norwich ultimately led to their loss along with problems connecting with the ball at the plate.

The second game of the evening saw a standout performance from Norwich's pitcher Hannah Eddy, as well as the game saving hit go to Gabby Mirabito.
Windsor would jump out to a 3-1 lead after the second inning over Windsor. After surrendering the first three runs to Windsor, Eddy shutout the Black Knights for four straight innings.
Eddy pitched out 128 pitches with 10-strikeouts and three earned runs. This saw Eddy's pitch count on the day total at 18-strikeouts in a four hour span to go with her 127-pitches.
“I call them my four studs, (Hannah Eddy, Kassidy Seary, Jordan Sanford, and Shannon Moore) I pulled them all together at the beginning of the second game and I told them they just had to buckle down, they know how to pitch around you, just stay in your zone, you aren’t gonna do anything by yourself. Just get the hits,” said Moore. “This is our first win against Windsor since I have been coaching, so this was great.”
Moore went on to say that off the back off Eddy's pitching the game was kept close enough for a late rally to earn the win.
Heading into the sixth inning and down 3-1 still Norwich saw Eddy lead off with a single, followed by Kate Dowdall reach a base on a fielders choice, advancing Eddy to second. Alex Colley was then up, and hit a single to load the bases. Airelle Jacquette then grounded out to second, which forced Eddy home for the score, before Windsor intentionally walked shannon to load the bases.
Gabby Mirabito then doubled to center field, clearing the bases for Norwich, with five runs earning in just that inning.
“Hannah pitched great, she kept us in the game. I told them their pitcher is getting tired and we need to take advantage of this, and Hannah didn’t get tired. She was harder in the last inning of that game than in the first inning,” said Moore. “I told them to put this in the memory bank, Gabby is the hero at the plate but without Hannah's arm we wouldn’t have been in that position so it was a great team win.”
Norwich did end up surrendering two runs to Windsor in the seventh inning, however with the tying run in position, Windsor failed to bring her home as their final out struck out at the plate.
Norwich saw their batting improve for the second game: Gabby Mirabito 1-3 with one run and 3-RBI's, Jordan Sanford 2-2 with an RBI, Kassidy Seary 1-4, Hannah Eddy 2-3 with a run and an RBI, Kate Dowdall 1-3 with a run, and Alex Colley 1-2 with a run.
Next up for Norwich is Susquehanna valley this Friday away at 4:30 p.m.
“I think this win will help carry them, we will have a good practice and see if we can get them,” said Moore.
