Marauder baseball shines after devastating loss
SHERBURNE-EARLVILLE – The varsity Sherburne-Earlville baseball team hosted Adirondack on May 9, suffering through a tough 18-0 shutout loss.
Adirondack would explode on the scene with an opening inning of five funs in their favor.
Notably, SE had lost previously on the year to Adirondack with a score of 14-6.
SE couldn’t muster the hits to keep pace with Adirondack, only connecting with three balls to Adirondacks 16-hits.
Errors in SE's fielding also contributed to the shutout loss, with five going on The Marauders to Adirondack's lone error.
Adirondack would tack on two runs in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings with seven runs to cap off the win over SE, in the seventh.

LITTLE FALLS – Following the devastating loss at home, SE rebounded well on the road, May 10, when they edged Little Falls to hold on to a 6-5 win.
The Marauders would get their bats swinging early, landing a run in the first and second inning, with two more coming their way in the third inning, making it 4-0 heading into the fourth.
“We scored early and kept a positive attitude throughout the game. I'm proud of the effort we put forth tonight,” said SE head coach Jay Tackabury.
The early defense, pitching, couple an error free game on SE's part helped them fend off point in Little Falls favor all the way until the fourth and fifth innings when they managed two runs a piece.
“Freshmen Cody Beckwith threw 4 1/3 innings allowing just three hits, then Aaron Price came in to close the game,”explained Tackabury.
The SE batters would respond to the scoring by tacking on a run in the fourth and fifth innings, ultimately scoring the winning run, before relying on their defense to close out the game.
“Our defense played the best it has all season committing no errors,” said Tackabury.
SE varsity baseball (3-9-1) will be traveling to Canastota this Friday, May 13, with a start time of 4:30 p.m., weather pending.
