Two arraigned, Judge clears courtroom for one
NORWICH – Two men were arraigned for separate charges during a morning session held at the Chenango County Courthouse on Friday, May 27.
• Duane G. Hollenbeck, 47, of Pitcher, appeared on charges of assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.
It is alleged that on April 14, 2016 at a residence in the Town of Pitcher, Hollenbeck drove his 2015 Nissan Juke – a motor vehicle and dangerous instrument – into the victim with intent to cause physical injury. This allegedly caused a contusion to the right knee of the victim, which caused pain and discomfort.
During his arraignment on the charges, First Assistant District Attorney Michael D. Ferrarese, who represented the people of Chenango County, asked that an order of protection be arranged for the victim. He also said that he wished to pursue a bail amount of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
The Honorable Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. decided that he would leave the bail at the original $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
Additional conditions set at the arraignment were that Hollenbeck must reside at his home seven days a week and he will not be allowed to use any form of social media.
At this time Hollenbeck did enter not-guilty pleas to all charges stemming from the earlier indictment.
The order of protection was signed by all parties.
• Korey A. Crandall, 19, of Smyrna, appeared on charges of burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
It is alleged that on February 4, 2016, on East Main Street in the Village of Earlville, Crandall knowingly entered and remained unlawfully in the Earlville Opera House.
Crandall allegedly forced open an antique wooden door, causing damage to the said door.
While inside the Opera House, Crandall allegedly stole property consisting of one hammer and $8.28 in United States currency.
During his arraignment on the charges, the courtroom was asked to be cleared by Judge Revoir. Less than 20 minutes after the courtroom was cleared, Crandall was seen walking out.
At this time, bail and bond amounts for Crandall are unknown.
