Tally up another win for Norwich golf
NORWICH – The Norwich varsity golf team has been on a recent winning streak – at the Canasawacta Country Club – where they added a fourth team to the list of names that they have beaten withing the last seven days.
The Tornado defeated rival Oneonta Yellowjackets at CCC, with an impressive stroke count of 204 to 256 for their ninth win of the season.
Nate Scheer would enjoy a superb day on the greens with his medalist spot for Norwich – recording a par 36 – leading Norwich and tying an Oneonta athlete as the low on the day.
Following Scheer for Norwich was Ryan Johnson with a 37, Alex Gage with a 40, Brenon Maynard with a 43, Loes Mills with a 48, and Parker Walsh with a 49 – for the team score of 204.
In the loss for Oneonta, they also would enjoy one 36 stroke count as Evan Sitts would be named their medalist. However, the loss would come as the remaining five golfers for the Yellowjackets could not match the Tornado depth.
Sitts was followed by Zach Rigas with a 48, Max Gelbsman with a 55, Gunnar Hassard with a 58, Carter Mackey with a 59, and Sarah Hansen with a 62.
Next up for the 9-1 Norwich varsity golf team they will have no downtime as they head to Windsor to play on the Golden Oaks Golf Course later on today, Sept. 29, where the match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
