NPD seeks public assistance in Tuesday purse snatching
NORWICH—Norwich City Police are asking for the publics assistance with regard to an incident that took place at a downtown business parking lot Tuesday evening, Nov. 8.
At this time, investigators are looking for any information that might help them identify a potential suspect in a purse robbery that occurred at 5:50 p.m. in the Tops supermarket parking lot.
According to authorities, it was reported that the suspect rode upon the victim on a bicycle and forcibly grabbed a purse from the victim's hands while she was walking though the lot.
Following the purse snatching, the suspect continued on the bicycle in a southwesterly direction toward Birdsall street.
The suspect was described as being a white male wearing a black hooded knit sweatshirt, dark jeans and tan colored work boots. In addition, the suspect was said to also be wearing a blaze orange neoprene half mask, and the bicycle was a red mountain bike style with oversized tires.
As of press time, Nov. 9, the incident was still being worked on by the detective division within the NPD, and leads are still being generated. More information and better quality surveillance photographs will be published in The Evening Sun if and when they become available.
