B-G girls win, Bobcat boys place third at MAC league meet

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford girls track and field team won the MAC league meet while B-G boys team took third place at the MAC meet held on Monday, April 24.
In addition to B-G, Oxford and Harpursville-Afton competed to make up the other rooted Chenango County teams – among the likes of Unatego and Sidney.
For the B-G boys, Nick Petrutoni claimed a first place victory in the 100m dash recording a time of 11.7 seconds. Following in Petrutoni’s footsteps was teammate Cordel Vandermark who won the high jump clearing 5’4”. Petrutoni also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17’6”, the B-G 4x800m relay team also recorded a second place finish with a time of 10:26.
The Harpursville-Afton boys took first place in two events with Matt Johnson winning the 1600m with a speedy time of 4:52.8 as well as the 800m in a time of 2:08.3. HA’s Noah Roefs took second place in the 3200m event with a time of 12:08.6.
The Oxford boys grabbed a pair of third place finishes with Jaret Gates recording a time of 20.1 seconds in the 110m hurdles. Adhi Viswanathan was edged out by B-G’s Nick Petrutoni and Sidney’s Will Moore by a combined 0.2 seconds as Viswanathan timed 11.9 seconds in the 100m dash. Adam Brady had two fourth place finishes in the 400 and 800 meter races timing 59.3 seconds and 2:25 minutes respectively.
The B-G girls emerged as close victors, recording 65 points to H-A’s 63 and Sidney’s 60 points.
B-G’s Zamira Caldwell played an important role in her team’s win as she sandwiched a pair of first place victories around a second place finish in the long jump, jumping 12’11.5”. Caldwell won the 400m and 200m dash, timing 67 seconds and 28.4 seconds, respectively.
Kristen Chambers recorded a win in the Pole Vault for B-G, vaulting for six feet even with teammate Matraca Harmon right behind her clearing a height of 5’6”.
The B-G 4x100m relay squad fell short of first place, crossing the tape in a time of 55.5, one second behind the winning squad from Harpursville-Afton of Brynn Crocker, Calixta Terrell, Madison Baker and Matilda Knapp who recorded a time of 55.5 seconds.
For the H-A girls, Knapp also recorded a win in the 100m dash timing 13.5 seconds.
Teammate Morgan Fleming took first in the 800m with a time of 2:49.1 minutes. H-A’s 4x800 and 4x400 meter race teams recorded second place finishes with times of 11:49.6 and 4:51.8, respectively.
Terrell finished second in the 400m recording a time of 68 seconds. Sarah Peterson finished second in the 1500m timing 6:10 minutes with Mackenzie Hoyt also finishing second in the 800m crossing the finish line in 2:55.8 minutes.
Kaitlin Mulwane from Oxford won the 3000m race in a time of 15:48 minutes to aid in the Blackhawk scoring.
Teammate Jadyn Munson got in on the action on her way to taking first place in the long jump leaping 14’1.”
Munson also recorded a second place finish in the 100m with a time of 13.5 seconds. Katelyn Ingraham placed second in the triple jump, leaping for 37’7.75”.
The B-G Bobcats travel to compete against MAC league opposition the Unadilla Valley Storm with the meet starting on Wednesday, April 26, at 4:30 p.m. The Oxford Blackhawks return to the track when they travel to the Unatego Spartans on Wednesday, April 26, with a 4:30 p.m. start time.
