Capital project, school safety drive B-G budget
BAINBRIDGE – Residents of the Bainbridge-Guilford School District will vote on the proposed 2018-19 budget on Tuesday, including a tax levy of 4.23 percent.
The proposed $18,153,575 budget is a $535,540 increase from the 2017-18 budget, and is being driven by the district’s Capital Project and added school safety features, according to Superintendent Tim Ryan.
The budget includes an additional $200,000 in safety features compared to last year’s budget, including funds for a school resource officer, glass hardening for entryways, security camera, and servers.
The 4.23 percent tax levy would have an $83.95 yearly impact on a homeowner with a $100,000 assessment.
“Please remember the 2 percent tax cap is a misnomer and taxpayers will receive their rebate since the district is not going over the recommended tax limit,” Ryan said.
The budget vote and school board election will take place on Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. Voting locations will be at the Greenlawn Elementary School and Guilford Town Hall.
