Hillcrest Lavender Farm joins Cornell Cooperative Extension for Open Farm Day this summer

SHERBURNE — Hillcrest Lavender Farm U-Pick, located at 239 Stone House Road in Sherburne, is thrilled to be part of the upcoming Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Open Farm Day on July 18.
Owners Eric and Kathy Turner look forward to giving tours of their farm during the event.
Their grandson’s will set up a lemonade stand for cold refreshments and visitors can enjoy shopping homemade lavender items, pick bundles of fresh lavender and also meet and feed the family sheep.
During Open Farm Day, Hillcrest Lavender Farm U-Pick hours will be 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Their regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
“We’re very family friendly, we welcome everyone and look to invite them to the farm, educate them and learn more about lavender and what we do. The timing of the event is perfect as lavender will be at its peek bloom time. I’ll have some lavender pre-picked in the shop or if visitors like, they can walk the field and pick their own. Prices vary depending on bundles,” she added.
Visitors can choose to pick their own lavender bundles and will receive tools along with instructions on how to cut the lavender stems.
Kathy said many items found In the shop are personally made from essential oils distilled from the farm lavender, and include bug spray, roll ons, soaps, lotions, neck wraps, eye pillows, and dried bouquets of lavender.
