O-G baseball earns big win at home against Walton/Downsville
OXFORD— The Oxford-Greene baseball team hosted Walton/Downsville in a MAC league matchup on Thursday afternoon. O-G came away with a big 23-4 victory, where they scored 19 runs in the third inning.
O-G was down 2-0 from the start and then tied it up in the bottom of the second before W/D added two more in the top of the third. Then O-G took ultimate control with a big bottom of the third inning and added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Jackson Roth went four-for-five at the plate with two RBIs as the team’s lead-off batter.
Nic Dodzweit had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs as well as Kiefer Evans had two hits and drove in four runs. Aiden Carter also had four RBIs and led the team with a triple.
Blake Barrows also finished with two hits and drove in three runs while Trent Drew had two hits and an RBI.
Eddie Ingraham drove in a run as well in the win.
Blake Barrows got the start on the mound for O-G, where he went two and a third, allowing four earned runs on five hits, two walks, and struck out four batters.
Cooper Davis worked one and two-thirds with striking out three batters as Adam Beckwith worked one inning, allowing two hits, and had one strikeout.
Oxford-Greene (3-3) heads to Unatego-Franklin on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
