NHS softball wins second straight game; defeats Windsor

NORWICH— After defeating Seton Catholic in a close game on Monday, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted Windsor on Wednesday night. Norwich earned their second straight win 13-7.
After two scoreless innings, Norwich got on the board in the bottom of the third with three runs.
Bri Cirigliano doubled to left field to lead off the inning. She came in to score on Kerragan Reid’s infield single. Carolyn Wright hit a two-run homer to left field to put Norwich up 3-0.
Windsor got two back to cut the deficit to one in the top of the fourth inning before Norwich scored 10 unanswered runs to go up 13-2.
The Black Knights put up five runs in the top of the seventh, but Norwich held on to the victory.
Norwich scored 13 runs on 12 hits as Bri Cirigliano went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.
Ava Cirigliano had two hits and two RBIs, along with Carolyn Wright and Loralee Brown.
Shaelyn Rice also had two hits while Reid, Wright, Brooke Rogers, and Abby Telesky each had one in the win.
Kira Quattrocchi earned the win on the mound, where she went three and two thirds, allowing two earned runs on two hits, six walks, and three strikeouts.
Bri Cirigliano finished off the game in three and a third, allowing five runs (one earned) on no hits, six walks, and struck out four batters.
Norwich (5-8-1) hosts Johnson City on Friday at 5 p.m.
