EARLVILLE — Join guided Paranormal Investigations at the historic 1892 Earlville Opera House (EOH) on Saturday, June 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. and 10. p.m. to12 a.m. each night. Investigations are led by seasoned Paranormal Investigator Kenny Harris, leader of Pride Paranormal NY, who will provide a night of fun, education and exploration of the paranormal possibilities at EOH. 

There have been many different experiences at EOH, some people see things, some people hear things, and most have witnessed some form of paranormal activity, whether it’s theater seats folding down on their own, or voices replying to messages over the spirit box, or cat balls lighting up and flying off a stool across the stage, or viewing orbs which seem to be galore in the historic dressing rooms where a lot of creativity happens. EOH has seen and heard quite a bit. It’s all good and positive energy, possibly past musicians, technical crew and patrons who have enjoyed past times at EOH. The investigators with Pride Paranormal NY peel away the veil to give participants a glimpse at what remains after life’s curtain is drawn.

Pride Paranormal NY is a fully inclusive paranormal investigation team originating in Central New York. Harris has been leading tours at EOH for seven years now, starting in the Arts Cafe, where he reviews the equipment used to detect and communicate with spirits. The investigations then move into the historic 1892 theater to see what ghosts are waiting for the next show. Investigators have found music invokes the spirits in our venue, so regional musicians will kick off each tour.

Through community engagement, workshops, paranormal investigations and lectures, Pride Paranormal NY seeks to provide a safe, inclusive and understanding atmosphere to explore the concepts of spirituality, identity, and the paranormal, while educating participants on the diverse cultural and spiritual history of New York. Pride Paranormal NY works with local community groups and historic sites to increase the visibility of underrepresented populations through the scope of pseudo-scientific paranormal investigations. 

Pride Paranormal NY is funded entirely by guest donations and provides their services to historic sites, museums, and charities at no cost to support these venues. The group is a LGBTQIA+ focused paranormal investigation team operating in the state of New York that celebrates both pride and paranormality. As stated by Harris, “We're not specifically looking for just queer ghosts. Being LGBTQIA+ focused means focusing on language, behavior, and methods that are inclusive and respectful of our members’ identities. However, I do think it’s important to acknowledge that queer, trans individuals, nonbinary people, etc. have ALWAYS existed, and I hope having an inclusive, supportive, caring group aids in communicating with spirits who deserve to be acknowledged.”

EOH was founded in 1972 as a non-profit community service organization promoting the arts in rural Central New York by offering programs of cultural, educational and historical significance. This is achieved while striving to preserve the architectural and historic integrity of the EOH, a unique second-story theater constructed in 1892. Key EOH programs include a wide range of culturally diverse visual and performing arts programs represented through rotating gallery exhibitions; three live performance series; arts workshops; classes and arts education opportunities for all populations; and grant making into Broome, Chenango and Otsego counties. EOH was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Earlville Opera House Arts Center is located at 18 East Main Street in the charming Village of Earlville and is wheelchair accessible.
