NEW BERLIN — The Unadilla Valley/GMU girls’ soccer team earned the sixth seed in the MAC playoffs, where they were set to host the seventh seed Oxford. Both teams played a tough game, leading to a scoreless first and second half to go into overtime. UV/GMU netted the game-winning goal with seven and a half minutes remaining in the 10 minute period to win 1-0.

Both teams had even possession with Oxford having long ball shots that nearly went in but were stopped by goalkeepers Lexi Davis and Molly Knuth, splitting the reigns. Madison Dix and Sydnee Struder played great defense against the Blackhawks, especially on the pass front, along with Molly Knuth in the first half.

UV/GMU saw good ball movement and breakaways from Logan Lindholm whose shots went wide or were saved. Madison Dix, who had good playing time defensively, dribbled the ball up for UV/GMU in overtime to kick off to Noelle Fernandez-Naughton who scored the game-winning goal from the right side to the left side of the net.

Both teams advance to play in the next round of the mini MAC playoffs, where UV/GMU heads to Sidney and Oxford hosts Walton/Downsville.
