B-G baseball drops to Union Springs in the first round of Sectionals

UNION SPRINGS— On Friday, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team, as the fifth seed, traveled to take on fourth seeded Union Springs in the first round of the Section IV, Class C tournament. B-G fell 4-1 to finish the 2026 season with a 11-5 record.

After two scoreless innings, Union Springs got on the board in the bottom of the third and B-G tied it up in the fourth. Connor Davy singled to lead off the inning, stole second and third, and scored the Bobcats’ lone run on an error.

Union Springs added three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory.

Davy and Brayden Swartwout had B-G’s only hits on the night as Mason Acquisto and Davis Barnard reached on walks.

Mason Acquisto got the start on the mound, going four and two thirds, allowing one earned run on two hits, four walks, and struck out five batters. Anthony Cafasso pitched in relief, allowing three unearned runs on no hits, four walks, and struck out four batters.
