Chenango River Theatre presents ‘Intimate Apparel’ by Lynn Nottage

GREENE — Esther Mills is a talented black seamstress who creates intimate lingerie for women from all walks of life in turn-of-the-century New York City. Her talents have acquainted her with the society women residing on 5th Avenue, the prostitutes in the Tenderloin, and the purveyors of fine fabrics on the Lower East Side. But a surprising correspondence with a handsome man working to build the Panama Canal kindles a romance that transforms her well-ordered dreams of self-determination and financial independence.

Chenango River Theatre’s production runs May 22nd through June 7th, 2026. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., plus Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.chenangorivertheatre.org, or by email at tickets@chenangorivertheatre.org. You can also make reservations 24 hours a day by voicemail at 607-656-8499. Individual tickets are $33 for adults, $12 for college students, and $6 for children 18 and under. All performances start on time.

Chenango River Theatre is just 15 minutes north of Binghamton at 991 State Highway 12 in Greene, NY 13778.

Intimate Apparel leads off Chenango River Theatre’s twentieth year of bringing exceptional professional theatre to the Southern Tier of New York. Directing the production is Carmela Marner, former Artistic Director of the Franklin Stage Company, with a talented cast of new and familiar faces, including Eliana Rowe*, Adara Alston*, Kristofer Ryan Wilson*, Alondra Hughes, Nina Varano, and Ricky DeRosa.

Scenery and Costume Design are by Barbara Kahl, with Lighting Design by Laura Renae Kensley, and Technical Direction by Becca Rayne. This production will be Stage Managed by Melissa Nathan*.
