Norwich track and field competes at Class A/B meet

ITHACA— The Norwich Purple Tornado track and field teams competed in the Section IV, Class A/B championships held at Ithaca High School, proudly representing Class B.
The NHS girls finished sixth with 22 points as the boys took fifth with 58 points.

Girls' Track:
McKenzie Hagenbuch took third in the 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:13.
Bella Shepard came in seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 22.11 seconds.
Nora Collins finished ninth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 15.75 seconds and also competed in the 200 meter dash with Tristan Monroe.
Monroe came in eighth with a time of 30.59 seconds with Collins in 10th with a time of 34.29 seconds.
Malea Sutton ran the 3000 meter run in a time of 15:13 for seventh place.
The freshman also competed in the pole vault, where she cleared a height of six feet for third place.
Girls' Field:
Reagan Decker took third in the high jump, clearing four feet, three inches with Jordan Slentz in fifth as she cleared four feet.
Decker took fifth in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, six and a half inches as Tristan Monroe finished seventh with a jump of 13 feet, nine and a quarter inches.
Boys' Track:
Connor Marshall came in fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.12 seconds.
Kassen Stubb earned an eighth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.89 seconds.
Nic Sutton took second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03.55 as Anthony Roberts ran the 1600 in 6:00.73 for 11th place.
Boys' Field:
Kassen Stubb became a sectionals champion in the boys' high jump as he cleared a best six feet, two inches.
Connor Marshall took fifth as the fellow senior cleared five feet, six inches.
Marshall, himself, won the triple jump event with a top jump of 38 feet, six and 3/4 inches with Zach Monroe in fifth with a jump of 34 feet, five and a half inches.
Stubb also won the long jump with a top jump of 20 feet, five inches with Monroe in ninth with a jump of 17 feet, nine and a half inches.
Dean Westervelt took third in the discus with a throw of 126 feet, one inch.
