Guilford Historical Society hosting pre-Revolutionary War archaeology talk on Tuesday, June 2

GUILFORD — The Guilford Historical Society will host renowned regional archaeologist Dave Moyer for a public presentation titled “Life in Pre-Revolutionary Days” at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 2.

The event will take place at the society’s headquarters in the historic former church building located at 124 County Road 36 in Guilford Center. The presentation is free of charge and open to the public.

Moyer, the owner of Gilbertsville-based Birchwood Archaeology and director of the Roland B. Hill Archaeology Museum in Otego, will discuss early local life, historic preservation, and regional Indigenous culture. He holds a BS in Anthropology from Binghamton University, a Master’s degree from Montana State University, and is the long-time past president of the New York State Archaeology Association's Chenango Chapter.

Attendees will also have a unique opportunity to view a special collection of ancient arrowheads and artifacts. The items are currently on loan to the Guilford Historical Society directly from the Roland B. Hill Archaeology Museum.
