ONEONTA— The Norwich PONY league team faced off against Oneonta on Monday, where they fell 17-7.

Norwich got on the board in the first with two outs as Koltyn Collins reached on an error and stole second and third before Jadiel Jorge walked.

Collins stole home before the final out.

Oneonta took the overall lead with five runs in the first, four in the second, one in the third, before scoring seven in the fourth.

Norwich added a run in the third as Lucas Pope walked to start the inning but was caught stealing third during Joey Portelli's at bat.

Portelli singled to center before advancing to second on an error. Portelli scored on Collins' RBI single to center.

Norwich scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to attempt a late comeback.

Norwich scored seven runs on five hits with Portelli leading the team with three hits and two RBIs. Pope and Collins each had hits in the loss.

Collins and Jorge split time on the mound, both going three innings each, combining for 17 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits, nine walks, and eight strikeouts.

Norwich (0-9) hosts Stamford on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
