UV PONY sweeps doubleheader vs W/D

NEW BERLIN— The Unadilla Valley PONY league team swept a two-game set against Walton/Downsville on Wednesday night. The Storm won the first game in a close 1-0 shutout while they won the second game 11-6.
With the doubleheader victory, UV improves to 6-4 on the summer season, heading into playoffs.
Game 1:
UV 1 - W/D 0
The only run in the first five inning game came from the Storm in the first inning. Kasen Cox singled to lead off the inning, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He came in to score on an pop fly error. Cox provided two of the team's three hits with the other hit to Reed Osborne. Teagin Eccleston went the five innings, allowing just two hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts.
Game 2:
UV 11 - W/D 6
After W/D took an early 6-0 lead, the Storm rallied to score a run in the second, three in the third, and seven in the top of the fourth to take the overall lead and secure it. The Storm scored 11 runs on five hits and were outhit 6-5. Nick Crandall led the team with two hits, including a triple and two RBIs as Teagin Eccleston also had two RBIs. Cox, Urijah Drake, and Jake Favinger each had a hit in the win. Crandall got the start on the mound, going two innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits, two walks, and one strikeout. Cash Osborne went a strong inning and a third, allowing just one walk, and struck out three batters.
