SHERBURNE — Hilarity and chaos can be heard from the stage at the Earlville Opera House as the cast of Sherburne Music-Theater Society’s (SMTS) next production has been rehearsing William Shakespeare’s fast-paced, physical farce, The Comedy of Errors, in preparation for three performances at the Earlville Opera House on August 7th at 7 p.m. and August 8 and 9 at 2 p.m.
Set in the Greek city of Ephesus, The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession.
Director, Will Doonan has chosen a Vaudeville style for the play which pairs well with the slapstick, farcical comedy. The cast includes Maxwell Collins, Derrick Furness, Jacob Hamilton, Cameron Carpenter, Lisette Marlowe, Aryana Schneeman, Bruce Ward, Keven Simmons, Karen Kawa-Doonan, Liam Noble, Sybil Anne, Lori Crumb, Ryker Jones, Karen Singh and Colleen Law-Tefft.
