NORWICH – As part of their Adult and Continuing Education program, DCMO BOCES has announced a series of classes in Norwich that could lead to a career as a certified nurse assistant.

The medical field continues to grow, and opportunities for Certified Nursing Assistants are expanding as well. The DCMO BOCES Certified Nurse Assisting program provides an educational opportunity to develop the medical knowledge and clinical skills necessary to become a professional Nursing Assistant, prepares students for the New York State Department of Health Certified Nursing Assistant examination, and provides students the necessary skills to seek employment in residential health care facilities, adult homes and hospitals.

The Nurse Assisting class is taught using a combination of classroom instruction, clinical skills lab practice and a clinical internship rotation at one of the area’s health care facilities. The program offers a flexible and short-term educational schedule, with classes  taking place at the DCMO BOCES Alan D. Pole Campus in Norwich.

Classes will run Monday through Thursday 3:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. from September 28 to November 12. Clinical experiences take place November 2 to November 10 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with testing tentatively scheduled for the week of November 16th. Tuition cost (at time of registration) is $1850.00, which  includes books, uniform, supplies and testing fee for the New York State  Nursing Assistant Exam.
