Oxford boys' soccer roll on with win over UV/GMU

OXFORD— After winning their annual tournament over the weekend, the Oxford Blackhawks boys' soccer team hosted UV/GMU in a MAC contest.

Oxford, who took an early 3-1 lead at halftime, defeated UV/GMU 5-2 on a strong offensive night in front of the home crowd.

Oxford's Coach Moore credits both his offense and defense for playing well and his goalkeeper Gaven Dibble for making great saves to hold the lead.

Gordon Smith continued his goal streak with a hat trick of three goals for the Blackhawks while Paxton LaMonica scored two goals and had an assist.

Adam Beckwith and Joey Locke also provided assists in the win.

UV/GMU's Reed Osborne and Logan Panek scored with an assist by Julius Smith.

Oxford (3-1) heads to play Walton/Downsville on Monday while UV/GMU (2-2) heads to Greene this evening at 5 p.m.
