DVD Patrol

The Patrol is here, People! The DVD Patrol is back with another week with some new ones and an old favorite of the Toddster’s. I hope everyone liked our picks for the summer. We also have some picks for some reviews on the way but more on that later. Time to see what we’ve got.

New on DVD

Contraband - Most believe in second chances. Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg) had to try his luck at another life for his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and kids. Chris was just getting a handle on it when the local crimelord (Giovanni Ribisi) comes knocking on his door. He knows how good Chris was at smuggling and getting away from the police. Chris has a new life now and doesn’t want anything to do with him. Chris’s life and family are threatened and no one does that, Chris has no choice but find a way to stop him and get a way to keep his family so he can protect them and his new life. Will he be able to find a way out before it’s too late? Beckinsale is quite busy because she meets up with Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel in a new reboot of the classic “Total Recall” coming out in August to theaters.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - When you’re a secret agent, being an agent is never what you expect and never quite over. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) was on a routine mission but the terrorist he’s tracking has stolen some nuclear bombs. Ethan knows he has to get them back but something goes wrong and the Kremlin gets destroyed. Now Ethan and his team have been disavowed after the President activates “Ghost Protocol” that cuts all ties with the agency and all Ethan’s resources. Now all Ethan can do is depend on the team he has and what resources he has left to find the man responsible. Is Ethan going to be able to finish the job? Cruise will trying something new this summer in “Rock of Ages” when he tries singing. (That’s right, I said singing).

Also on DVD

Dark Tide - You never want to be afraid of something you love. Kate Matheson (Halle Berry) always loved the ocean and was never afraid of it. Things change when she has a run in with a great white shark and it scares her out of the thing she loves the most. Jeff (Oliver Martinez) and a small group want to go diving and they heard that Kate is the best. After much soul searching, Kate decides to help them but the place they do diving just happens to be one of the most dangerous places in the World that has a lot of sharks. Can she overcome her fear and help the group find what they’re looking for? The Toddster has some great DVDS to recommend that are in stores now from Berry including “Swordfish,” “X-Men,” and “Die Another Day.”
Ultimate Avengers - The Toddster decided to being back an old favorite in honor of “The Avengers” coming out. Cartoon Spotlight is here and Nick Fury has put together a team to stop an alien invasion. Part of that team involves thawing out Captain America who’s been on ice for decades. Fury tells him that the World still needs heroes and he needs him now more than ever. They find the Black Widow, Thor, the Wasp, Giant Man, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk. An old enemy of Cap’s from the war called the Chitrali have come back and want to take over the Earth. Can Captain America whip this team into shape to save the world and help him find a place in it? This is available in stores now with “Ultimate Avengers 2” as well.

There you go, Patrollers! Some new movies to get you started for that lazy weekend you might have. The Toddster is also gearing up for some new movies with “Safe” starring Jason Statham and will be featured in a future patrol. Also, there is also our Toddster’s Take for “Avengers” on the way as well. Catch you next week, people!
