SHERBURNE – After a heart-breaker against Canastota, the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves girls basketball team hosted Herkimer for a CSC division I matchup. S-E fought back late in the game, but dropped a tough 49-42 game.
Herkimer proved to be a strong defensive team early on with stealing the ball and tipping the ball up to come up with multiple offensive rebounds. S-E was good at the long ball threes to get started with Claire Barth having nine points in the first half with three three-pointers. Alyse Brown also added a few threes to the mix.
However, the long ball diminished as S-E couldn’t finish and the ball was stolen by the defense.
It was a back-and-forth game in the fourth quarter, where S-E found themselves down single-digits. However, they could not stop Herkimer’s Madison Marusic from hitting three-pointers or driving inside to score nor keep possession on offense to help them get closer to coming away with the win.
